Opening of a primary health care facility is not limited to any particular health professional.
The major things to look for are:
  • 1) Is it registered?
    2) Does the facility has qualified health care givers e.g Trained Registered Nurses
Qualified Doctors, Pharmacists, Lab scientists etc. The more the qualified personnel with different specialisations , the better.
    3) What are the opportunities available in the hospital? e.g. laboratory, Xray, Physio, Dietetics etc.
    4) How flexible is their referrer system, can they hands off easily on cases they cannot handle by referring such to a higher hospital or health facility?
    5) The hygiene compliance of the hospital, is it neat?
    6) What is their response time?

Quality health services can be expensive but you will be rest assured to get the best!

What is their quality assurance?

Don't be deceived,
A nurse, A doctor or any one interested in the health of his generation can open a health care center so far he/she has the money to employ all other important health care givers to work with him/her.

[*]You must also get the proper registration license.
You must have the right equipment
You must have the right emotional intelligence
You must have enough cash as well. [/i]

Let no one harass or discredit any professional as incapable of managing a health facility. Even rich men that are not health inclined do open hospital and employ the right personnel to work for them.

The most important thing is certification, registration and quality services!
Let's give the right services and encourage one another to excel!

Nurses are good care givers!
They open and run health facilities adequately and enjoy the cooperation of other health care professionals
That is the spirit!!

Yes you are right, my first 9 years of practice was in an hospital owned by retired bankers and they employed all categories of health workers, inshort all their staff were qualified, the hospi registered and I can bet that no hospital beat its standard of practice in ikorodu all through my 9yrs there. Lets encourage what is good

Marianfelicity IbraHim Ozebu yes! That is exactly what I mean, some will come out and discredit the hospital just because the owner is not a doctor. No, that is not the criteria, ownership is different from employees!

Why do people derive joy in running others down?,
what you need to run a clinic is managerial prowess, scientific knowledge and practical experience, equitable collaboration and up-to-date equipments, plus reliable human resources.
Nurses are the one running most private hospitals for the owners, so what stops you as a nurse from opening yours and employing others to work for you? You already have the ability to coordinate, you have the scientific knowledge, the practical experience. A wise client will prefer a hospital owned and managed by a qualified nurse. Because they will ensure you have the best care, they will employ or refer to relevant professionals so as to ensure holistic care.
Employ doctors, pharmacists, record officers, physiotherapists or collaborate with them to deliver a wholesome care to the community.
Common nurses, team together and bring out the best in you!

Nobody should underrate any health facility own by a trained certified nurse, after all we are the most essential human resources in facilities opened by other health care givers. Nurses know when to hands off, when to invite specialists and when to go ahead and manage a case. We can always work in collaboration with other health workers, and refer to appropriate higher facilities when need be. Why must any one run down health facilities owned by a nurse and indirectly train and aid quacks to open hospitals?

Some nurses have complex problems, you can be a nurse and own hospital, if you have surgical cases call in a surgeon, if you need physiotherapists, call them in, and render your own services as a nurse. The hospital will become a specialist centre where each professional renders specialized goal oriented care.
Let no nurse substitute the job of a doctor, let no doctor substitute the job of a nurse for a quack. We are dealing with human life, it is greed and selfishness that makes most of these professional nurses and doctors behave in this way, they want to make the maximum profit!

They are greedy and heartless.
The day your clients realised you are deceiving her, you'll loose your respect and dignity!
Be bold to let people know you are a nurse and give them excellent care.
The doctors too should desist from dragging nursing in the mod with their scheming devices. They too will continue to loose dignity as people come to realise the evil they are doing to this noble profession.
Stop calling your quacks auxiliary nurses, call them auxiliary doctors if you must continue to use them, but if you think nurses are important to you in your facilities, employ trained, certified and registered nurses. Be contented with your profit thereafter and stop playing on the intelligence of the gullible public.
