DANGERS OF SELF DIAGNOSIS AND MEDICATIONS

Unread post by Kunle Emmanuel »

Suzie Oreke has had fever on and off for 2-3 months. As an educated girl, she knows exactly what to do.

She goes to the best laboratory in town and asks to do test for Malaria and Typhoid (It's fever now). The result is positive: Yes!

She goes to that new upscale pharmacy and asks for the best antimalarial and Typhoid medication. And she starts her treatment.
Oh......She also bought blood tablets and multivitamins to improve her poor appetite.

After 3 months, without much improvement she decides to go and see the doctor, this time.
But she thinks a scan will help the doctor....and an X-ray too. She visited the Doctor with all the test results.

"Doctor, I've had malaria and Typhoid for 3 months and I've already done these tests".
Then the results start pouring out.
Season 1....
Season 2....
Season 3....
Season 4....

"Oh.....and Doctor, I came with a Scan and an Xray results too..."

The Doctor keep staring at her.....!

What a Client.....! The Doctor pondered.

She became impatient and said in exasperation.
"Doctor I just came so that you will prescribe the drugs that will clear it finally...."
The Doctor starts by asking questions
(Taking a history).
He didn't even look at her test results...!
She's bristling with indignation.
Haba!
Does this Doctor know his onions at all?

Finally the Doctor finishes his examination and said:

"Madam I'm considering three things....
Please can you do these tests so I can be sure..."

None of them is Malaria and Typhoid. How can the Doctor be suspecting....

1. HIV

2. Hyperthyroidism

3. Blood cancer?

Just because of "ordinary fever?"

Even suspecting Tuberculosis sef...

She had lost some weight though, but she still felt fit.....

Anyway test results return and it's a type of Blood Cancer.

The Doctor said that if only she had presented earlier, the treatment would have been far gone by now.

Suzie Oreke has commenced treatment and is responding well...!

However she's now an advocate of ZERO self-testing...
Of course She learnt the hard way.....!

----------------------------------

Please do not by yourself take yourself to a laboratory on account of a symptom.
You are not a symptom.

This is the correct flow:

DOCTOR----LABORATORY ---- DOCTOR ----- PHARMACY ----DOCTOR.

Too many bypasses are resulting in late diagnoses and unwanted untimely deaths.

If however, you must treat yourself by yourself because you love yourself so much,

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST AFTER 2 DAYS, NOT 2 MONTHS OR 2 YEARS.

Early diagnosis saves lives and prevents witchcraft/ spiritual attack, which are often blamed for delayed commencement of appropriate and prescribed treatment.

You could be another Suzie......take care of yourself as you are the only self you've got!

Self medication not only delay appropriate diagnosis and treatment, it also kills!

Visit the next Primary health care centre nearest your resident in case of ill health.
Don't worship: clothes, accessories, cars, home equipment, jewellery, school fees etc at the detriment of your health.

Don't be forced to believe that :

HEALTH IS ACTUALLY REAL WEALTH!
