How To Get A Nursing Job in UAE Dubai

Unread post by Queenet »

Dubai is a booming metropolis with a huge demand for a professional, hard-working nurse such as yourself. The rapid growth of Dubai may be over, but the expansion of the city has left room for health care professionals to move in and really make a difference to an exciting new city and its population.

If you’re sick of working in your current job with too little pay, too few benefits and no prospects then a change to a nursing job in Dubai may be exactly what you need.

Nurses expected salary in Dubai
The average salary expected for a nurse in Dubai is estimated to be between 2,500-10,000 UAD

The beginning salary for a nurse in Dubai is dependent on qualification and position as well as whether the hospital is funded privately or by the government.

We all know nursing overseas has always been a lucrative job but the pandemic even made nurses more popular and demanded all over the world and UAE is not an exception. So how do you become a nurse in UAE?

Let's get to it.

1) Know the four bodies that handle nursing recruitments in UAE. They include DHA, DHCC, MOH and HAAD.

2) You need to posses a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNsc). Note a diploma can not get you a nursing job in UAE, maybe assistant nurse, even if you are not into health care field, you can become Assistant Nurse..

You also need an experience certificate (at least 2 years of experience) and practicing license from council governing nursing in Nigeria( NMCN) or any country you are based in.

3) You can apply for/get jobs through 3 months Visa process, agency or directly from hospital. Since the first option is the most popular. Lemme talk about it.

It's better to start the process in Nigeria so you don't waste time doing that when you get to Dubai.

Firstly scan your certificate. One by one. Convert them to PDF files, your passport photo and international passport too.

Go to DHA website (remember there are 4 nurse governing councils in Dubai; I prefer to use DHA)
Create a profile.
You will have to pay the sum of 210 dirhams to open application.
After submitting, in a couple of days you will receive a confirmation mail from DHA acknowledging the receipt of your documents

Next stage - verification
This is the stage where DHA will verify your documents. You will pay the sum of 925 dirhams to start this process.

After they verified your documents, they will contact your referee

Verification takes 4-6 weeks. After a successful verification, you will be asked to come and sit for the nursing exam. Like we have it in Nigeria. This is stage where you apply for 3 months visa. The examination comes with a fee of $170. Don't fret, the exam is not difficult and it's only 70 questions.

To pass, you need 60%. At least get 42 questions right. If you can do NMCN exam well, this should come easy too.

You will receive the result of the exam in 72 hours or 3-5 working days. If you pass, you will receive a congratulatory mail and an eligibility letter valid for 1 year.

What do you do next? Start applying for all the UAE nursing jobs you see (trust me, they are much!) without hassle.

When you receive your first salary, you will know the process is more than worth it. Please check the source for more information and UAE sites for Dubai jobs.

Thank you.

To help you in getting your documents ready, here is a list from the Dubai Health Authority or DHA website from the pdf downloaded file:

1. Documents need for nursing in Dubai
2. A valid passport (with validity of 6 months)
3. One-color Passport size Photo with white background.
3. Birth certificate
4. Nursing or midwifery diplomas and registration certificates

In United Arab Emirates (UAE), there are three regulatory bodies that regulates activities of health professionals, they are;

1. Department of Health (DoH) formerly known as Health Authority of Abu Dhabi - (HAAD)
2. Dubai Health Authority – DHA
3. Ministry of Health – MOH

The boards regulate activity of nurses and other health professionals in different regions on UAE.

Department of Health (DoH) formerly known as Health Authority of Abu Dhabi - (HAAD) - They regulate activities of professionals in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain region.

Dubai Health Authority – DHA - They regulate activities of professionals in Dubai

Ministry of Health – MOH - They regulate activities of professionals in Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman and Ras Khaimah.

Out of the three boards and according to my rating (WHICH MAY BE WRONG), the best of them all is DoH (HAAD), though people use to say that DoH (HAAD) is difficult but in my opinion, it is better than other boards. DoH means, Department of Health.

The registration is in three phases;

1. Phase one is verification with Dataflow Group

2. Phase two is submitting verification report to Department of Health

3. Phase three is to book and write board examination,

You will also need the following to apply for the registration;
1. O'Level certificate (Scan in PDF format)
2. General nursing and other nursing certificates (issued by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria) - (Scan in PDF format)

3. Letter of good standing from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (Just like verification)

4. Certificate of employment from your EMPLOYER (Scan in PDF format) this is just like a recommendation letter which you can get from any other employer of labour if you know that your employer will not respond if the regulatory body contact them. THE VERIFICATION TEAM SHALL SURELY CONTACT THE AUTHOR OF THE EMPLOYMENT LETTER
5. ACTIVE and current nursing license (Scan in PDF format)
6. Passport photograph (Coloured with white background) to be scanned in jpg format)
7. International passport (Scan in PDF format and in colour)

8. Basic Life Certificate (BLS). The certificate should be from American Heart Association (AHA). (Scan in PDF format)
9. Birth certificate (Scan in PDF format)

10. Transcript from your school of nursing, school of midwifery or any other post basic course that you may have (Scan in PDF format) - You need the transcript in soft copy before the school will send hard copy to the address that will be shared with you (The verification team needed the transcript in soft copy which have to be uploaded to your application portal on their website)
11. Degree certificate

12. School of nursing and midwifery certificate (certificate issued by your schools)

13. Degree transcript - You need the transcript in soft copy before the school will send hard copy to the address that will be shared with you (The verification team needed the transcript in soft copy which have to be uploaded to your application portal on their website)

14. Nursing, midwifery and other post basic certificate issued by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria

DO NOT LEAVE ANY SPACE UNFILLED WHILE FILLING THE FORMS.
All the documents should BE SCANNED IN PDF FORMAT and all requirements MUST BE SENT AS ATTACHMENT IN ONLY ONE MAIL. The documents should be labelled according to their name and any document more than one page should be scanned together on page by page basis. E.g. transcript, staff data form etc.

The examination is just like NCLEX, you can get NCLEX materials for the preparation. I will get soft copy of some books for you and the hard copy of two books are also available but you will be responsible for the cost of the photocopy and subsequent transportation to your destination, if applicable.

The cost of the registration to examination phase will be about two thousand dirham or less (AED.2000 or less) If you want to use more than one nursing certificates, there will be additional AED. 320 for each added certificates apart from RN. I will strongly add all your nursing certificates for the verification.

In addition, if you want to use more than one employers, it will also cost additional AED. 320 apart from the first employer. Also, I will strongly advice that you should use only one employment letter.

After approval for examination by UAE Department of Health, you will be registered for the board examination with Pearson VAE (The body that organises examination for UAE Department of Health). You can write the board examination in UAE, Lagos or Kaduna in Nigeria.

Attached are some forms that you will need to fill. As well, a sample of certificate of employment is attached for your guidance in this regard.
